Yamaha began marketing electric bikes in Japan in 1993, under the Yamaha brand: PAS. Soon the system attracted the attention of other bicycle manufacturers and Yamaha began supplying what we called the EKIT, with drive unit, battery, display and other components. Today, Yamaha brand e-bikes are sold in Japan and the US. Partner brand e-bikes equipped with the Yamaha system are sold in Europe, North America, Japan and other parts of the world.
